Fly Tying Workshop

Are you interested in the sport of fly fishing?

A fly tying is the craft of hand-making artificial fishing lures, called flies, to imitate insects or small aquatic creatures. Participants use feathers, fur, or other materials which are threaded on a hook using tools including a vise, bobbin, and scissors. Fly tying is a rewarding hobby for anglers to create specific patterns for catching fish like trout and salmon.

Come to River Bend Nature Center to learn how to tie flies, understand the dynamics of casting, and explore the ecology of our rivers and streams. Beginners and veteran fisherman are all welcome. The workshop consists of four fly tying classes, and a class on fly casting. Fly tying kits will be available to use at each workshop; however, participants are encouraged to bring their own as well.
